I go and get a new
paint job every so often. What color to use is always the big
question. I try to stay away from the girl colors (your basic pink
comes to mind) and it usually turns out being some shade of blue or
green. From experience, it is best to use water-based paint if
you're going to paint yourself. Using petroleum-based products can
be problematic, what with all the solvents involved. Dad says that
solvents create a fire hazard, and if you are a proper law-abiding
citizen, you should first get a permit from the fire marshal. So
in summary, if you are planning to self-decorate and want to avoid
permits, fees and fire hazards, use water-based paint. Yet another
helpful tip from your uncle Skippy. Now, go take on the weekend.
Dad’s satellite dish died. When I walked into his living room, I found
him talking on the phone with tech support, the TV set pulled away from
the wall and a mass of tangled wires spilling out in front of him.
He looked completely overwhelmed.
“Tell you what I’m going to do,” Dad said to the technician, “I’m going
to hang up now, go to college for a couple years, then call you back.”
